WHO WE ARE
Catalyst founder directors, Alex and Tim Elliott met as undergraduates at Lady Margaret Hall.
After a recent spell living and working in Asia, they felt strongly that they wanted to provide an
exceptional learning experience for international students who are interested in studying in the UK,
at a college and university they know well. They joined forces with one of their oldest friends, Dr Tom Ziessen,
to form a cross-disciplinary team and create an engaging, relevant and unique course.
Alex had a 20-year career in journalism, communications and fundraising before launching Oxford Catalyst. Between 2014 and 2018 she was co-director of a London youth charity supporting 8- to
18-year-olds. Alex read Modern Languages as an undergraduate at Oxford.
DR TOM ZIESSEN
Tom was also an undergraduate at Lady Margaret Hall where he read Biochemistry, since then he has gone on to gain a PhD from University College London, followed by a career bringing science to the public and helping them imagine how the future could look and be shaped.
